Theft & Recovery Tips
Strategic advice for securing your vehicle and managing flagging records.
Action Plan: If Your Report Flags a Theft Marker
1. Do Not Finalize the Purchase
If a stolen marker appears, immediately cease negotiations. Purchasing a stolen vehicle means you have no legal title to it, and it will be seized by the police.
2. Contact Local Authorities
Provide the registration and VIN to your local police station. They can verify if the theft marker is current or if it's a residual flagging error.
3. Report the Seller
If you suspect the seller is knowingly selling a stolen vehicle, contact the non-emergency police number or Action Fraud (UK) / FBI IC3 (US).
Protecting Your Vehicle from Modern Theft
- Faraday Pouches: Prevent "Relay Attacks" by blocking the key fob signal.
- Ghost Immobilizers: Encrypted protection that requires a sequence to start the car.
- GPS Trackers: Real-time monitoring for high-value and luxury vehicles.
- Steering Locks: Visual deterrents that often stop opportunists.
